Blue was founded in 2015 by 40 families in the San Francisco Bay Area. We are a group committed to living a lifestyle of fellowship, family, and service, and together we aim to flourish and live our best lives. Most of the energy of our organization is aimed at keeping our values more present in our daily lives and in transmitting those values to our children and community.
Simply put, we get together regularly in Palo Alto, CA, we have a set of values we share with each other, we do programs for the kids, we do events out in the world, and we’re committed to Blue and each other.
We feel that without a supporting structure and a system of active reminders, we will be too distracted to make time for what really matters.
Existing spiritual practices resonated with us, but different parts of them prevented us from fully adopting them as our life practices. Thus, we came together to create the conditions for Blue to emerge.
Blue is a supportive program for life, a set of values, a community, a spiritual practice ... and it is evolving. We feel we are not creating Blue, we are creating a context that will hopefully allow Blue to emerge.
It’s an idea about how to live our lives. It is emerging from our collective views and needs. We are creating traditions, curriculum, art, calendars, language, and a community. We want to give ourselves well structured advice and inspiration. We want to train ourselves in a repertoire of wisdom. We want something to support us in our learning all through our lives, to help us touch the transcendent, to experience the spiritual mind, and to let us -- and our children -- be our best selves.
We hope Blue will help us behave in a moral way, forgive our fellow humans, understand ourselves, and confront our own mortality. We want to learn throughout our lives to be better, happier and wiser people.
We hope this community will grow until we have a strong and consistent membership of hundreds of families and members.
